There are two Loading History check boxes in Keystone, both on the Affiliate Setup screen. The Loading Mortgage History check box is located on the upper right-side of the Mortgages tab. The Loading Property History check box is on the lower left-side of the Property tab.
For typical, day-to-day use of Keystone, both of these boxes should be unchecked.
However, if you plan to enter historical mortgage or property acquisition information, it is helpful to check the corresponding Loading History check box while you are entering historical data. This disables some automatic functions that could potentially modify your data in ways you do not want.
To give an example using mortgages, if you want to enter the mortgage payments from previous years, you must check the Loading Mortgage History check box in order to prevent Keystone from computing and allocating Principal, Escrow, and Late Fees due from the payment date (which is at some point in the past) to the current date.
To give another example using properties, if you plan to enter property acquisition information from previous years, you must check the Loading Property History check box in order to prevent the year of acquisition for those properties from being reset to the current year.
Be sure to uncheck whichever Loading History box you use before resuming normal, day-to-day use of Keystone, or else automatic calculations and date-dependent functions will not work correctly.
